Suicide on 09bar

Postby kayser » Thu Sep 11, 2008 4:19 am

I've been looking at the 09bar - which in many ways looks very nice.

However I see one problem.

I like to ride suicide. Don't like the hassle of sorting out the depower rope after having used the ordinary setup with the leash attachmentring. When I ride suicide I have my stopper ball in a position where the kite still has enough power to stay in the air.

The solution with the leash attached directly in the tubing of the CL doesn't suit me as the leash sometimes gets in the way of the harness-hook, and when if I accidently release the QR mechanism I'll loose my kite.
On the 07bar I used the horisontally placed ring just below the stiffy disc. What are my obtions on the 09bar? Will I have to place my leash above the new "big black" cuff and risk breaking it (the leash will put pressure on it when i crash unhooked) or/and making it harder to release.

Any ideas?

An easy solution would be to just put a knot in the double depower line where it meets the trim strap so it can't pull through ..or maybe there will be room for a knot inside the cuff to prevent pulling through.

Of course this disables the "doube depower" completely, but you are only losing a few inches of depower when releasing depending where you leave the stopper

Kayser, use the ring under the big-black, thats what it is designed for.

But then I'll end up with the exact hassle I'm trying to avoid. I don't want the depower rope to pull through the stopperball etc. because i don't want to have to feed it all back. The situation I'm trying to avoid is the one displayed on the last picture at the buttom of page 4 in the manual (bypass system).

I've been using the 07 bar for 2 years so I'm quite familiar with the system.

I crash unhooked very often as I'm always practicing new tricks and it just takes to long time to feed the depower rope back through.

I'm searching for a solution that will enable me to ride as if the leash was attached to the CL - but without it being in the way when hooking in and out.

Will it be possible to pull down the other end of the depower strap and add a ball and a rope to that too?

In that way i can hook my leash to both rings at the same time and avoid the depower rope being pulled through the stopperball.

Thank you for your post, but i don't like the idea of the knot as I would like to be able to hook back and use the double depower when I do the occational dead man where i need the stopper ball low

suicide leash

Postby THEALOHAKID » Mon Nov 03, 2008 4:15 pm

They method I have been using is to hook your leash through the leash attachment ring and the chicken loop itself. I find this also helps keep the leash out of the way when hooking back in. This also gives you the ability to pull the emergency release on the chicken loop and activate the double depower.

I hope this helps!

Go suicide, attach your leash above the new plastic release.

That is how I do it.

Well, I have no time to futz around after a trick. So far so good and I have plenty of tricks, crashes, bruises on that new QR. Holding like a charm. Not of big fan of the stopper ball bypass ring.

well, I could always hook my leash to the cl instead of the ring. Is that a better alternative (to prevent cracking the qr)?

Keeps leash out of the way..... Acts like a suicide because it doesn't activate double depower. You can still activate double depower by "ejecting"

You would think with all the testing we did, we would have tried that, but we didn't that's sweet.
