red line bar wear and tear

Postby JRH13NJ » Mon Feb 22, 2010 5:57 pm

I just got the red line bar wear and tear replacement and I was rigging it up,

1. How would you recommend me attaching the gray line? cut it to length and then knot it? Should I burn the end or something?

2. For some reason the depower strap never faced me, when I got the bar can I fix that now?

3. should the middle line calibration be about an inch longer so that the the swivel is not the same length as the rear lines. Or should they all be equal with the swivel end?

To answer my own questions haha

1. Gray line cut it to match my existing gray line,
then installed it put a regular knot in it then melted the end with a torch.

2. Played around with the depower strap got it to face me, sometimes.

3. Fully stretched the middle lines swivel comes out so that half the swivel meets the ends of the steering bar lines and the other half sticks out.

SO I am trying to replace the same section of lines. However my center line (gray line) broke so it is kind of tough to cut to size? is there a standard measurement?

I bought the redline replacement kit from best and didn't have to cut the gray rope. I replaced both the the red and grey depower ropes and I haven't tried it since but isn't the grey rope sold the right length ?

you can check when it's all in place if all 4 lines are equal when bar is fully powered.
