Depower Knot Diagram

Postby Greeny » Mon Feb 04, 2013 4:22 pm

Changing my de-power, the help video now stops short of showing you how to re-tie the knot? not sure why it's been cut short, anyway I'm stuck.

I know it goes round & back through somehow but I'm not 100%, any tips or pics?

Cheers

Hi all,

To tie the knot on your depower line, simply feed both ends through the ring, then tie an overhand knot with both strands together:

Darren that's not quite accurate, the standard knot used is a self tightener, an overhand knot isn't. tehy do look similar when completed but they are actually quite different to tie.

Tony, I think I have an early RP-bar downstairs, I'll make a sequence of the knot. We just lost the end of that video clip when we moved video servers, a few files got damaged and we don't know where the original edit is.

DOUBLE_STOPPER_KNOT.jpg
1. Double self-tightening. Notice that the rope passes back down the same way as it enters, and both lengths of rope pass over the top of the D-ring. This gives it twice the strength at it's weakest point compared to a simple overhand knot.
